I bought a house last week…
Leave a commentThe property next door to me in Lyon Mountain came up for auction and I won! I was interested in the land as the property had a big yard and my mobile home was very close to the property line (I put the mobile home where the town wanted me to). However, the house that is on the land is very cool. It’s from 1850 and although it needs a TON of work, it has a lot of potential to become a beautiful home! See here for inside pictures from when I went Urban Exploring earlier this year.
As I (very slowly) start cleaning out the house and fixing it up I’ll put up a blog post with the progress. I’m excited to get started but it’ll be a little while before I start working on the inside. This will be a very slow moving project mostly due to financial reasons. If anyone would like to help me restore this house, please feel free to leave a tip in the tip jar.
If anyone local has any extra building supplies or is doing home upgrades and may have some used but still usable materials please get in touch with me, some repairs I will need to do include:
- Repair plumbing
- Replace roof (right now there is a combination of old shingles and rusty metal panels)
- Replace Knob & Tube Wiring and install a breaker panel
- Put up drywall to repair missing/broken walls and ceilings
- Put in a new kitchen. The old one has been gutted out. (Looking to make a vintage kitchen, so if you’re upgrading yours, I want your old appliances!)
- New Windows
- Put up wallpaper
- Install insulation
- Install sump pump in basement
